The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has organised a New Year celebrations with children at the Stella Obasanjo Home, bringing joy and merriment to the children under its care.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, at the event which took place at the Stella Obasanjo Children's Home Ibara, Abeokuta said, the special event was designed to foster a strong sense of belonging among the children, while celebrating their uniqueness and individuality by making the day memorable with activities geared towards making the children perpetually happy with residue of memories that would linger for long.
"This event is part of our sustained effort to show consistent love, care and support to the children with firm belief in their abilities and potentials, we remain irrevocably committed to showing them consistent love, care and support,’’ Adeleye said.
She said the event was part of the State Government commitment to nurturing the children's talents and unlocking their hidden potentials, while putting in place deliberate policies, strategies and interventions aimed at providing specialised support, particularly for children with special needs.
Adeleye, reiterated the Ministry's efforts, geared towards ensuring that the children get the best possible care and support which would continue to forge strong partnerships with non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders to achieve the set goals.
In her remarks, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Folusho Obienu, added that the event was aimed to contribute to the emotional and social growth of the children to enable them express themselves and build connections with others, noting that the party also served as an opportunity to teach the value of giving and empathy, encouraging them to share, care and show kindness to one another.
Reacting, some of the caregivers at the home appreciated the State Government and the Ministry for deeming it fit to put smiles on every child by not making them feel hopeless.
