The State Chairman of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Ogun State Council, Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, has called on all WDC members across the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State to intensify community mobilization ahead of the forthcoming Measles–Rubella Vaccination (MRV) Campaign.
In a press release e-signed by the WDC Ogun State Council yesterday, the Chairman enjoined all WDC members to work closely with community leaders, schools, religious institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure that all children and wards aged 9 months to 14 years are presented for vaccination.
The statewide immunization exercise is scheduled to run from Tuesday, January 27 to February 5, 2026.
According to him, measles and rubella remain preventable childhood diseases, and the success of the campaign depends largely on effective grassroots sensitization and community ownership.
He emphasized that WDC members, as community-based structures, have a critical role to play in ensuring that no eligible child is left behind.
The WDC Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the level of commitment and support demonstrated by members of the WDC Ogun State Council toward the MRV campaign. He described the collaboration as a clear indication of the council’s dedication to improving primary healthcare delivery and child survival outcomes in the state.
Asiwaju Dapo Wahab also extended his appreciation to the Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board, the Ogun State Ministry of Health, and the Ogun State Government for their continuous support and partnership with WDC structures across the state.
He noted that such support has contributed significantly to the improvement of health facilities and service delivery across all wards in Ogun State.
He reassured the public of WDC’s readiness to continue supporting government health interventions and urged parents, caregivers, and guardians to cooperate with health workers during the vaccination period in the interest of a healthier and safer Ogun State.
