All Progressives Congress (APC) youth from 10 wards in Odeda State Constituency of Ogun State have stood up to advocate not only for the return of Hon. Oludaisi Elemide to the State House of Assembly but also as the Speaker of the House.
The APC youth turned out in their hundreds at Odeda, the headquarters of Odeda Local Government to stoutly demand for the return of Elemide, insisting that the present Speaker deserves to be returned to the House.
Information from a reliable source hinted that the action of the youth may not be unconnected with an underground plot said to be thickening within the party hierarchy that some leaders of the APC were planning to impose a protege of the State Chairman of the party as the candidate of the constituency.
Of the 10 wards in the constituency, eight youth leaders of the party were present with their followers and affirmed that the return of Elemide to the House is of advantage to the constituency and to Odeda Local Government.
All the APC youth leaders also insisted that for Odeda Constituency to retain the position of Speaker, Elemide must return to the Assembly.
According to them, Elemide in the last 18 months of becoming the speaker of the House of Assembly had facilitated several developmental projects to the local government.
The youth specifically listed road projects, electricity, water projects as some of these projects while they claimed that he also carried out several empowerment programmes in the local government.
While addressing the gathering, the Deputy Youth Leader of Odeda Local Government, Comrade Oladipo Sobogun, said youth in the local government, had benefitted a lot from Elemide.
Sobogun said experience matters in politics noting that youth of Odeda should not allow the Number Three position be taken away from the local government.
The decision of youth from the 10 wards was adopted by voice votes coordinated by the Secretary to Odeda Local Government (SLG), Hon Oyekunle Adebayo.
