The Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has ended his self imposed silence on national politics as he openly criticised the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking to worshippers at Faith Tabernacle yesterday, Oyedepo questioned the performance and level of accountability of President Tinubu's Government.
The bishop’s remarks come after a three year self imposed abstinence from public commentary on political affairs.
During his address, Oyedepo criticised the government’s performance, stating:
“You’re not doing well; you’re not doing well. They must tell you that you’re not doing well. What’s your problem? Hear me, please, tell me. Is this government doing well?”
The congregation responded with a loud and unified “No!”
He argued that any leadership unable to protect citizens or stabilise the economy has no justification to demand blind loyalty or praise from the people.
The cleric stressed that Nigeria’s challenges can only be addressed through honest governance and real performance, not political propaganda.
Oyedepo also highlighted the severe economic hardship and insecurity affecting Nigerians, warning citizens to remain vigilant against political influence ahead of the 2027 general elections despite the country’s current struggles.
The video of the sermon of the non-conforming pastor has since gone viral online, generating mixed reactions from Nigerians across social media.
