The former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly and Chairman, House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi has highlighted the importance of family values, love and unity as major factors to curing societal ills.
The House of Assembly Service Commission Chairman made this known at the second edition of the Adekunbi family thanksgiving service at his residence in Abeokuta.
Adekunmbi who attributed societal breakdown to lack of love from homes, noted that family gatherings foster gratitude, strengthens family bond and promote unity, adding that love was essential for addressing the nation's challenges.
The former Speaker appreciated God for his faithfulness and grace upon his family members, urged families to cultivate love and unity, noting that the family thanksgiving was a platform to foster unity and love amongst his people regardless of their religious leaning.
Also speaking at the event, head of the Adekunbi family, Engr. Tajudeen Adekunbi noted that the family thanksgiving was to established roots, generate lasting memories, foster sense of belonging and provide avenues for simple acts of kindness within the family unit.
He also admonished all to remain united in love, saying that, ‘’It is family that matter in the scheme of things that will help the society to grow better’’.
While expressing his views, the Otunba of Ayetoro land, Engr. Adekunle Fashola said the family gathering remained unforgettable for its shared experiences, stating that, "if this acts could be done in every family, it would strengthen peace and unity that the society craves for".
