The people of Maso Community in Sagamu Area of Ogun State have made a passionate plea to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Lanre Ogulowo to rescue the community from the hands of armed land grabbers that have recently invaded their village.
The head of the Maso Odumeru Family, of Odelemo Road, Sagamu, Chief (Mrs) Memunat Otujonwo made the Save Our Soul (S.O.S) plea while briefing newsmen at her residence yesterday.
Narrating the harrowing treatment meted out to the villagers, Chief (Mrs) Otujonwo explained that the land grabbers, numbering over 300 hid under the disguise of hoodlums and cultist to destroy landed properties in the village while shooting incessantly to scare residents.
The head of the family said that the case was reported at the Sagamu Area Command of Ogun State immediately it happened but expressed shock that police were yet to respond to the distressed call of the community.
Chief (Mrs) Otujonwo however said that a petition has now been submitted to the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Commissioner of Police at Eleweran for the State Command to act fast to prevent bloodbath in Maso Community.
She noted that investigation conducted later by the villagers on the reason for the invasion of the community revealed that the hoodlums came illegally to take possession and claim ownership of MASO Community Land, which she emphatically asserted was owned by her forefather with even a court judgment on it.
The head of the MASO Odumeru Royal family also alleged that one Chief Tajudeen Allison, Lateef Mukaila, Rasaki Onowoga who claimed to be a Police Officer in Abuja, Abeeb Onasanya, a.k.a Oniwata and Azeez Olaitan including Awobo, aka Ponpo, who claimed to be working for Chief Kamorudeen Lamina, a.k.a sir Kay Oluwo, a notorious landgrabber in Lagos and Ogun States led the hoodlums to the Community since last week.
She added that they were continually terrorizing the people with dangerous weapons like guns, cutlasses and charms to make the people of the area scamper for safety.
The Head of the Maso family explained that the residents of Maso Village are law abiding and peaceful people and therefore urged the security apparatus in the state to intervene as a matter of urgency so as to forestall any security breach in the community.
She called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun and the State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Chief Security Officer in the State to direct all the security apparatus to the community so as to quickly stem the violence occasioned by these land grabbers.
However, Chief Kamorudeen Lamina (aka) Sir Kay Oluwo has disclaimed the alleged leaders of the invading hoodlums and their activities.
Chief Lamina in an interview told our reporters that the disclaimer became necessary following the allegations made against individuals bearing the names Chief Tajudeen Allison and Awobo (aka) Ponpo who falsely claimed to be his followers in the land grabbing business.
He categorically denied any involvement in or authorization of any activities involving hoodlum or any form of violence including shootings in the community.
He dismissed the allegations that he was involved as entirely false and not in accord with his character position or values of his company.
“I Chief Kamorudeen Lamina popularly known as Sir Kay Oluwo” hereby issue this formal disclaimer regarding the allegations bearing the names, Chief Tajudeen Allison and Awobo (aka) Ponpo, who have been falsely claimed to be personal assistants to me", he noted.
All efforts to contact the Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola failed as she could not be reached while the message sent to her phone was yet to be attended to by the time this report was filed.
