AKINMADE URGES INFORMATION OFFICERS TO DO MORE

Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Media and Communication has urged officers in the Ministry of Information and Strategy to do all in their power for the upliftment of the ministry in its statutory responsibilities towards promoting government policies and programmes.

Hon. Akinmade, who made this known in Abeokuta, at the new year prayer session, organised by the Ministry, described the Ministry as a special agency that showcases government activities, while appraising feedback on the effect of its policies, emphasising the need for effective information dissemination to enable the populace to be abreast of happenings in the nooks and crannies of the state.

He disclosed that the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun appreciated the Ministry’s efforts, saying, "it shows that he is watching us closely; we need to do more and improve on our performance. We have talents and potential we need to unleash so that the society will know that we are there".

The Governor’s aide assured that training programmes would be conducted for Information Officers, to deliver more on their duties as core professionals, admonishing them to be creative in rejiging programmes that would reflect ISEYA mantra of the present administration.

Speaking, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Waheed Adesina, encouraged officers to prioritise their health and ensure regular check-up, stressing that they should cross-fertilise ideas to move the agency to the next level.

"There should be constructive engagement that will better our lot; the management is ready to listen and help when necessary", he said.

Contributing, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Information Chapel, Comrade Femi Osipitan, charged the Information Officers to be diligent in the discharge of their duties, ensure healthy lifestyle and be closer to God through their journey in year 2024.

In their separate Christian and Muslim sermon, Information Officers in the Ministry, Mr. Samuel Ogungbesan and Mr. Rasak Sekoni, respectively, urged officers to cooperate and support the management in achieving the set goals of the ministry, involve God in all their endeavours, praying that all would be well in year 2024.

In his closing remarks, Director of Information, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr. Lanre Ogunyinka, lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for the developmental strides in the state, appreciating Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication, Directors, Deputy Directors and officers for rendering effective service in the outgone year.

Speaking in an interview, Information Officers, Mr. Femi Salako and Mrs. Gbonjubola Alao, appreciated God for the gift of life, promising to continue to be loyal and be proactive in line with the rules and regulations of the Civil Service.
